Funding Source Information
American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA):
The American Rescue Plan Act is a significant piece of legislation addressing the
economic and public health challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Signed into
law in March 2021, it provided substantial funding for vaccine distribution, economic
relief payments to individuals and families, extended unemployment benefits, support for
small businesses, and aid to state and local governments to compensate for revenue
losses associated with the pandemic.
Inflation Reduction Act (IRA):
The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), signed into law by President Biden in August 2022,
aims to lower inflation, boost clean energy, and reduce healthcare costs. It includes
$369 billion for renewable energy and electric vehicles and allows Medicare to negotiate
drug prices. The IRA seeks to cut the deficit, manage inflation, and accelerate the
shift to a greener economy.
Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL):
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, also known as the Infrastructure Investments and Jobs
Act, was enacted in November 2021 and represents a once-in-a-generation historic
investment in America’s infrastructure. It allocates substantial funding for repairing
and rebuilding roads, bridges, public transit, broadband internet access, clean energy
initiatives, and water systems. BIL represents a bipartisan effort to clean-up legacy
contamination, address critical infrastructure needs, and stimulate economic growth.
CHIPS and Science Act (CHIPS):
The CHIPS and Science Act, signed into law by President Biden in August 2022, is a U.S.
federal law to boost domestic semiconductor manufacturing and innovation. "CHIPS" stands
for Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors. The Act allocates over
$52
billion in subsidies to support semiconductor research, development, and production in
the U.S., to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers, strengthen national security, and
enhance economic competitiveness. It also includes funding for scientific research in
various fields, such as quantum computing and artificial intelligence.
